    Since Reiwa 3 （ December 2021 ）, he has served as the “Yokosuka Promotion Ambassador,” and Shogo Akiyama

    , a 38-year-old （ ） professional baseball player for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp, will host a tournament to support children dedicated to baseball in Yokosuka, as detailed below.

    This tournament marks the fourth time the “Shogo Akiyama Cup” has been held, building on the youth baseball tournaments previously organized by Yokosuka City with the player’s full support.

    On the day of the tournament, in addition to the championship trophy personally provided by Akiyama himself, the tournament MVP award ・—the Akiyama Award—and gifts for participating teams, he is scheduled to deliver an inspiring message via video.

    2 ． Background of the Event
    Akiyama’s baseball career began began when he joined his local softball team, （ the Otsu Snakes ）, in the first grade of elementary school. By the sixth grade, he had joined not only the softball team but also a rubber-ball baseball team, rapidly climbing the ranks toward becoming a professional baseball player. Given this background and his deep passion for both softball and baseball, he offered to support this tournament.
